FAQ #3: Why do you work with a partner?

Note: This is an on-going series of Q&As I have compiled in order to introduce new and potential clients to my Arabic<>English translation services. Have a question of your own? Ask it here.

Question: Why do you work with a partner?

Answer: Translation is a complex process requiring genuine knowledge of at least two languages and cultures, the ability to write well in the target language, and the ability to convey both words and ideas in the target text.

In an ideal world, you’d want a translator who had perfect command of the source language and culture (which is usually only found in people who actually grew up in the culture) along with the ability to write like a native in the target language.

This combination of characteristics and skills is very rarely found in a single individual, especially in the relatively exotic Arabic to English language pair.

That’s why I choose to work with a native speaker of Arabic on every translation project I accept. This ensures that any subtle nuances in the Arabic source-text are preserved and expressed in smooth English.

My partner and I have been working together in this manner for well over a decade. We are both experienced linguists and believe that our approach to our linguistic work enriches every word we translate.

In addition to my extensive experience as an Arabic to English translator, I am also a published author and longtime editor who takes pride in making your words shine.
