Note: This is an on-going series of Q&As I have compiled in order to introduce new and potential clients to my Arabic<>English translation services. Have a question of your own? Ask it here.

Question: How long will it take to translate my text?

Answer: The time it takes to translate a particular text is highly variable and depends on the type of text, the amount of research required to complete the translation, and what my schedule is like at the time.

If you let me know what kind of deadline you have in mind, I can often reserve time for your project and work to accommodate the proposed timeline.

My partner and I are accustomed to meeting tight deadlines, especially in the context of journalism and breaking news, which often has to be translated within a matter of hours.

In most cases, however, it is better not to rush a translation if there is no pressing need. Not only does a rush translation cost more, but it also leaves less time for important things like research, polishing, and editing…all important factors in the quality of a finished translation.
